The idea behind YoiYoi boxes came from a close friend. A while ago the artist asked him what he would like for Christmas. He was feeling a little sad at the time and said "…you could give me a jar of happiness..."

The artist thought about it and came up with the idea of hand painting a jar for him in beautiful bright colours and filling it with cotton wool and glitter to make it look light, bright and happy, and he absolutely loved it. Seeing his reaction, the artist felt she wanted to share the experience with others.

So many people in the world today are losing the ability to communicate. I hope that my YoiYoi brand and its products act as 'Vessels of Emotion', providing beautiful and charming ways for people to express how they feel towards others.

The artist for the first YoiYoi line of boxes is Trish Bygot, an up-and-coming WA designer. She has been featured in local papers and has had numerous displays of her artwork in Perth over the years. 

Trish’s artwork has a warm, whimsical nature and a way of touching people’s emotions. This is the reason I chose her to assist me in making my vision for YoiYoi a reality.

I want to recreate a feeling of Old World Charm and Grace in my boxes, which will appeal to the senses.

Another part of my dream is to have the boxes hand painted. I learned about artists in Vietnam and their ability to faithfully replicate original artwork by hand. I chose lacquer ware boxes not only because of their beautiful look and feel but also because so much of their manufacture is done by hand.

To ensure my YoiYoi boxes are unique, I have created an entrire package that includes the lacquer boxes and beautiful wording specific to each box on the inside of each lid. 

To complete the YoiYoi gift, each item is placed inside a YoiYoi bag and sealed with the beautiful YoiYoi logo.

YoiYois are a range of black lacquer ware boxes with lids that depict stunning, hand painted reproductions of original artworks. Each box carries a theme – for instance, Christmas, Love and Thank You – and has a beautifully worded message hidden on the inside of each lid:
